I am just dippy about dips and am fairly sure that they should be a food group in their own right. Top of the dip charts is hummus (hommus, houmus), which however you choose to spell it, is delicious, and if served with some vegetables is a reasonably healthy choice.
Traditional hummus should is made with either chickpeas or garbanzo beans depending which side of the Atlantic you live. I think that garbanzo sounds so much more exciting than boring old chickpeas does. I’ve added in a few bean and lentil hummuses (hummi?) too.

I am very fond of pumpkin hummus and beetroot hummus but am amazed at all the variations here! Did you see the warm hummus on Fat Free Vegan recently – that is something I haven’t seen before.
