🧠 In a groundbreaking collaboration – scientists from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and Karolinska Institutet are delving into the brain’s embryonic stage, a pivotal period that shapes lifelong cognitive behaviour.🧬 Why is the embryonic stage so important? This is when the brain starts to form and develop and is highly sensitive to genetic and environmental influences. New study has revealed an ‘atlas’ – detailing the landscape of half a million cells in the embryonic brain. This atlas not only shows the layout of the cells, but also highlights the DNA activity within them, providing new insights into early brain development.🔬 This innovative news follows recent funding from the Dutch government to Amsterdam's Institute of Chemical Neuroscience. The funds will support a similar project called the 'Brain Atlas,' a project focused on understanding the cellular and molecular changes associated with anxiety and depression.🔗To read the full article, head here: https://lnkd.in/ep6N5A_r#AmsterdamNeuroscience #AmsterdamScience #DutchGovernmentFunding #ScientificBreakthrough

🚌 New study shows how Amsterdam’s electric buses can be powered by the existing metro network – tackling both grid congestion and energy cost issues. Conducted by the AMS Institute, Delft University of Technology and GVB, this study could potentially propel many sustainable targets with just one action. 🔳 It comes as no surprise that Amsterdam and the Netherlands as a whole has struggled with grid congestion, with factors such as growing urbanisation, higher demand and limited infrastructure having an effect – however, it looks like the solution is on the horizon. 📃The study found that charging buses using energy from the metro system is practical as well as economical. The metro's braking energy offers around 17 MWh of unused energy per day that could be harnessed for bus charging – that’s a huge untapped resource that can make significant sustainable energy improvements across Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands. ❓ What happens next? The collaborative teams are preparing a pilot test site for direct bus charging at Station Noord. So watch this space, your next bus ride could be powered by the metro. 🔗Dive into the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ddREd7ft#SustainableEnergy #GreenEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Innovation
