  1. Hi Maria,
This recipe looks delicious. I have beef with me right now. Want to try it out.
    Havenot tried beef dishes mych.
It has not been mentioned in the recipe how to use -ginger and garlic (paste or crushed)
    and
    -the coconut bits.
Are these added along with marinate? Any frying needed before marination?
    Pls clarify.

    Regards
    Meera

    • Hi Mira,

      • Thanks for the fast reply.
Sorry, need to know one more thing.
In this recipe Onion is also given.
Is it to be sauted or just used raw in the marinade?

      • Hi Maria,
I did cook beef today. It came out well. My hubby liked it a lot.
Sauted onions before cooking marinated beef.
The dish was bit spicy hot… The chilli… We did like it but bit hot for my 2 kids.
        Thanks for this wonderful recipe.
        All the best
        Regards
        Meera

        • Hi Mira,

Good to know that you liked the beef. Yeah beef recipe is usually on the spicier side. May be next time, you can adjust it to suit your requirements :) Sorry I couldnt reply to your doubt about onion earlier, I was away on a trip. You can either add onions along with the marinade or you can saute the onions first and add cooked beef.

  8. hi maria..i just came to know you through a news paper..i went to your site and i was quite impressed by your honest and sincere efforts t ospread the true sprit of cooking .

i just wanted to get your help regarding a dish that my son likes …FRIED RICE.I HAVE FOLLOWED MANY RECEIPIES BUT I HAVE NOT YET GOT THE RESTAURANT TASTE.
COULD YOU PLEASE HELP..STARTING FROM THE KIND OF RICE THAT HAS TO BE USED.. WE WOULD BE VERY GREATEFUL .

    • Hi Susan,

Thank you so much for visiting this space and also for taking time to leave a comment here.

I’ve posted 2 fried rice recipes here. You can see it below:

      https://mariasmenu.wpcomstaging.com/chicken/mixed-fried-rice

I use basmati rice for fried rice. Its better if you cook it just right, over cooking of rice is not ideal for this. Also left over rice is good for fried rice. You can prepare the rice one day in advance and follow the rest of the recipe.

However I’m not sure whether it will be same as the restaurant ones, because I think most of the restaurants use ajinomoto, it gives the flavor. I dont use ajinomoto in cooking.

Hope your son will like it…

      All the best!!

      Cheers
      Maria
