These high school stars opened the playoffs in style: Cast your vote for the Hometeam Baseball Player of the Week (1)

There were plenty of great performances on the diamond last week, and Rich Garven found some of the best for readers to vote on to decide the Hometeam Baseball Player of the Week.

Congratulations to the West Boylston duo of Aidan Mosquesa and Dominick Renzoni for taking the top spot in last week's poll with 921 votes (29.8 percent) to top Leominster's Reece Lora (661 votes) for the honor in a poll with more than 3,000 votes cast.

Player of the week nominations are selected by reporters based on coaches reporting game results into the Telegram & Gazette sports department and game coverage from the T&G sports department staff. Caleb Allen, Oakmont

The senior surrendered two hits and recorded nine strikeouts ‒ including the 300th of his career ‒ over seven shutout innings as the Spartans edged Arlington Catholic, 1-0, in the Division 3 state tournament.

Ryan Arsenault, North Middlesex

The junior didn’t allow a hit in 2⅓ innings of relief and collected two hits and scored the winning run as the Patriots nipped Ashland, 5-4, in Division 3 state tournament action.

Miles Blake, Tantasqua

The junior yielded two hits, didn’t issue a walk and piled up 14 strikeouts over seven shutout innings to lead the Warriors to a 2-0 Division 3 state tournament win over Swampscott.

Tighe Clark, Algonquin

The senior capped a 3-for-5 effort at the plate with a one-out, walk-off single in the 11th to lift the Titans to a 5-4 win over Grafton in a Division 2 state tournament thriller.

Andrew Cloutier, Sutton

The sophom*ore belted a pair of doubles and drove in four runs to propel the Sammies to a Division 5 state tournament victory over Kennedy Academy.

Jordan DeLeon, Oxford

The senior went 3 for 4 and stole a pair of bases to power the Pirates to a 6-0 victory over Southwick-Tolland in Division 4 state tournament play.

Bryce Everson, Auburn

The sophom*ore went 2 for 2 highlighted by a home run and drove in three runs as the Rockets posted a five-inning shutout against Worcester Tech in the Division 3 state tournament.

Nick Fennucio, St. Paul

The senior allowed two hits and recorded nine strikeouts while not walking a batter over five shutout innings to lead the Knights to a Division 1 state tournament win over Cambridge.

Nathan Kozlowski, Millbury

The senior surrendered one hit, issued two walks and racked up nine strikeouts over seven shutout innings as the Woolies topped Monomoy in the Division 4 state tournament.

Tommy Kursonis, West Boylston

The sophom*ore went 2 for 3 with a home run while driving in three runs as the Lions topped Springfield International in Division 5 state tournament action.

Colin Loehr, Douglas

The senior singled twice while driving in two runs and scoring one as the Tigers posted a 6-1 Division 5 state tournament victory over Millis.

Max Mandler, Maynard

The freshman didn’t allow a hit or a walk over seven scoreless innings before belting a walk-off homer as the Tigers topped McCann Tech, 1-0, in Division 5 state tournament play.

Joe McKeown, Northbridge

Thes senior allowed seven baserunners and struck out eight in a route-going performance to lead the Rams to a 4-1 win over West Bridgewater in Division 4 state tournament play.

Brady Quirion, Bromfield

The junior had a pair of hits, including a solo home run, as part of a balanced offense that carried the Trojans to an 8-3 win over Mystic Valley in Division 5 state tournament action.

Jacob Schwartz, Nashoba

The sophom*ore pitched 9⅕ scoreless innings in relief, recording 12 strikeouts and allowing seven baserunners as the Wolves edged Shepherd Hill, 3-1, in the Division 2 state tournament.

Brady Shea, St. John’s

The senior struck out 12 and allowed eight baserunners over seven innings while raising his record to 6-0 as the Pioneers opened the Division 1 state tournament with a win over Waltham.
