Baking is a science. Addingtoomuchbuttercan causecookiesto be flat and greasy. Addingtoolittlebuttercan cause thecookiesto betoughand crumbly. I almost always use light brown sugar when I makechocolate chip cookies, but dark brown sugar also adds a depth to the flavor of the cookies, which some people like.

Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie Ingredients

*Ingredient amounts are located in the recipe card at the end of this post.

Butter:Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature before mixing. This will ensure that the butter mixes evenly with the other ingredients.

White Sugar and Light Brown Sugar:Using both white sugar and light brown sugar adds a perfect balance of sweetness and caramel-like flavor to the cookies.

Eggs:The eggs help bind all the ingredients together, creating a thick and chewy texture.

Vanilla Extract:This adds a delicious vanilla flavor to the cookies. I recommend using pure vanilla extract for the best taste.

Baking Soda and Salt:These two ingredients are essential in activating the leavening agents and providing balance to the sweetness of the cookies.

All-Purpose Flour:This white flour is the base ingredient for these cookies and helps create that perfect texture.

Chocolate Chunks and Mini Chocolate Chips:The real star of these cookies! Feel free to use your favorite brand of chocolate or mix and match different types for a unique flavor combination. You can even add nuts or other mix-ins if you’d like! I like to use semisweet chocolate chips.
