Malted Cookie Tips & Tricks

The Scoop

A medium-sized cookie scoop keeps your cookies consistent—both in size, and in dough texture, since it isn’t being handled by warm hands.

Round Cookies

When your chocolate malt cookies come out of the oven, use the back of your spatula to gently press the cookies into a perfectly round shape right after they come out of the oven. That is, if you want that “pristine” round shape. If you like the homestyle look, just leave them as is!

How to Serve

With malts!

Gonna throw an obvious one out there. But really…when you love malt powder, what could be better than a double dessert with double malt?

As an ice cream sandwich

This delicious take is a dreamy combo of creamy and chewy—all in one portable, handheld treat!

A la carte!

By the dozen. Because we’ve decided that’s the serving size for this recipe. No way you can eat just one, so we’re going to go ahead and give you permission to go back for seconds…a few times.

Description

A standard chocolate chip cookie gets a face lift with the addition of ever-so-decadent malt powder. Dreams really do come true.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 sticks (16 tablespoons) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup malt powder
  • 11 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Chopped Whoppers for topping (I used a 5oz box)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl of an electric mixer, cream together the butter, sugar and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about a couple minutes. Reduce the speed to low and add in one egg at a time, making sure to wipe down the edges of the bowl in between each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  2. Mix in the flour, baking soda, salt and malt powder on low speed until a cookie dough forms. Add in the chocolate chips and mix until just combined. Using a tablespoon scoop, scoop the cookie dough out onto a non-greased baking sheet, placing them a couple inches apart. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until slightly golden brown.
  3. Once the cookies come out of the oven, carefully top the cookies with the chopped Whoppers, gently nestling them in if needed. Allow the cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  4. Serve as-is, or dunk into your favorite malt or milkshake!
