Duties and Responsibilities
United Nations personnel in the field are exposed to a variety of health and security risks that can lead to illness, psychological trauma and/or fatal injuries. The United Nations Clinic Medical Specialist, a specialist in primary health and emergency medical services, could mitigate the negative effects of trauma, injury and health complications by providing better life-saving services and rapid recovery.
The Medical Specialistfor this position works under the overall supervision of the Health Manager of the United Nations Clinic with regard to technical tasks and under the full supervision of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System at the administrative level.
The Doctor is part of a medical team that will work under the authority of the Health Manager of the United Nations Clinic in Yaoundé and will share tasks with his fellow Doctor.
The United Nations Clinic is under the overall supervision of the United Nations Resident Coordinator for all administrative matters and the overall supervision of the Medical Director at Headquarters for technical matters.
The main role of the United Nations Clinic is to provide the highest quality of health care to staff and their dependants and deputize for the head physician, in the medical and administrative management of the clinic in the event of absence.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Doctoral degree, Advanced University Degree in Medicine, from an accredited University and currently licensed to practice medicine within home country.
- Post graduate degree in the field of medecin, preferably on Family Practice of Internal Medicine.
- Formal training and certification in CPR and preferably in BCLS and ACLS or equivalent emergency medical care is required.
Experience:
- Minimum (5) years of continuous and practical experience in general medicine; tropical medicine in developing countries or countries in conflict and minimum of (2) years in occupational health medicine and/or travel medicine activities is required.
- Experience in use of computer tools and UN medical platform (Earthmed, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required;
- Previous UN medical system/international medical experience is desirable.
- Experience in UN MedEvac (UN Medical Evacuation) process is an advantage.
- Experience of at least 2 years as health facility manager is an advantage.
Other:
Valid certification in Advanced Trauma Life support (ATLS), Advanced cardiac Life support (ACLS) OR Prehospital trauma life support (PHTLS) is required.
- Language skills: Fluency in French is required.
- Knowledge of local languageis required.
- Knowledge of another UN language (English) is highly desirable
